Der Comic ist eine illustrierte Literaturgattung, die sich in verschiedenen Kulturkreisen und dank fortschreitender technischer (Druck-) Möglichkeiten über Jahrhunderte hinweg zur heute bekannten Form entwickelte. Er stammt nicht, wie fälschlich in der Literatur behauptet wird, aus den USA. Als wichtiger Vorläufer des modernen Comics gilt Rodolphe Töpffer (1799–1846) aus Genf, was nicht zuletzt an seinem prominentesten Fan (Goethe) liegt. Als eine der ersten regelmäßig erscheinenden Bildergeschichten (seit 1897) gilt...." (Wikipedia)
